If the lotion does not work, you might want to consult a dermatologist or a physician to check out the nature of the skin irritation and to help you get some treatment.

There are also cases when the allergen is ingested or consumed. In this case, itchy skin could come with other symptoms like inflammation and a feeling of constriction. If this occurs, the best thing for you to do would get some antihistamines and consult a physician right away. Itchy skin in this case can be an indication of more serious symptoms about to develop and immediate medical attention is definitely required.

Itchy skin might also be the result of a poor lifestyle. Not changing your bed sheets regularly could cause various bacteria, fungi and even insects to move in and start irritating your skin. Make sure you clean out your bedroom and disinfect regularly to remove any irritants present.

Skin disorders also commonly cause itchy skin. When your itchy skin comes with rashes and lasts for more than a couple of weeks, then you should go to a dermatologist to have your skin tested for any disorders. This will help you get the right treatment and will lessen the risk of you aggravating the condition.

Also, if your itchy skin is not relieved the first time you scratch it, scratching a second time will not help. Scratching can actually aggravate itchy skin, either by spreading the irritant to skin around the itchy area or by causing the skin to break, leaving with you a wound as well as itchy skin.
